City of Dewas is identified as an industrial city on the map of India with many internationally recognized industries like Tata International, Ranbaxy, STI-Sanoh, Kirlosker Brothers, Johnson and Johnson, etc and last but not the least the currency Press of Govt. of India- Bank Note Press.
Dewas is at threshold of a triangle formed by a metropolitan business capital of M.P. i.e. Indore, the holy-historical city of Ujjain and the administrative capital of M.P. i.e. Bhopal on National Highway 3 (Agra to Mumbai) towards Indore, which is 36 km. away.
The city is blessed by 'Maa Chamunda' whose temple is situated on a hill in the midst of the town giving a cultural and holistic communion in Dewas.
Dewas is also known for the famous and renowned artists Ustad Rajjabali Khan, Padmvi bhushan, Pt. Kumar Gandharv, Padmshree Vasundhara Komkali to be the major classical singers of nation. Artist Afzal and Poet Nayeem to its reach heritage of culture, literature and art. We do remember E.M. Foster the English Laureate, who stayed in Dewas as sectary to the His Highness Dewas and wrote his famous novels 'Hill of Devi' & 'A Passage to India' with the references of Dewas in them.
This is about the city where the Govt. of M.P. with the aim to provide collegiat education to the women in a separate and safe environment, especially for the girls of the families of the weaker sections, established girls college in 1984, which is now named on the Maharani  Pushpmala Raje Puar of Dewas's Puar Dynasty.
The college has many inherited impulses for an overall development of the student. We stand by the view of Swami Vivekanand who says that- " Education should be such by which character is formed, strength of mind is increased, the intellect  is expended and by which one can stand on one's own feed."
Maharani Pushpmala Raje Puar Govt. Girls College is governed by the  rules and regulation of the Higher Education Department Govt. of M.P.  and for academic activities affiliated to the Vikram University Ujjain to run the teaching programmes in the faculties of Arts, Science, Commerce and Home Science. It is also included under the 2(f) and 12(B) sections of UGC.
